Is Tattooing an Art form?

Tattooing as an art form
When we say the art of tattooing we mean that tattooing is an art form? Some people don't believe that it is and that tattooing the skin is taboo. I like to think that we as humans has collectively grown over the years and that today tattooist are very much artists and the ink and skin are the canvas they paint!
In today's culture tattooing is more excepted now then it was 40 years ago or even 20 years ago. I see all types of people and different age groups of people with tattoo's these days. Is tattooing a real art form? I say yes and have written this to say to the world wake up! tattooing is an art form. "There are two type of people in this world people with tattoo's and people who walk away from people with tattoo's". If you think tattooing is a legitimate art form or if your the type of person that thinks it's only for sailors and bikers I would love to hear your argument! Please comment on this subject. There are many things a tattooist needs to learn before he/she can begin tattooing, it's not just about creating a stencil and going over it with a tattoo machine. Using a tattoo machine is not the same as using a pen or pencil. There are ways to create a tattoo and certain procedures to abide by. and that's what makes it an art form. Tattooist spend years perfecting their art and continue to learn ways to make them better at their craft. Son next time you see a person with extensive tattoo's don't be afraid but indulge in the art of the tattoo like you would paint on canvas!

i really agree with you, im doing a essay and research folder on a tattoo artist and i say that tattoo artists should be more regarded as actual artist and be respected more, as there art has to have such tiny detail and it stays in that persons body for life...
